Woman who died after slipping under moving train identified

A 66-year-old woman who died after she was hit by a train in the town of North Freedom has been identified.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Mid-Continent Railway Museum around 4:30 p.m. Saturday for reports someone hit by a train.

Linda L. Rowe, of North Freedom, who volunteered at the museum, was stepping off the train when she slipped and fell underneath the locomotive as it began to move.

Rowe was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sauk County Sheriff Chip Meister said a conductor, two brake people and an engineer were on the train at the time, but did not see Rowe.

The accident remains under investigation.
