Woman robbed of handgun during Craigslist transaction
A Craigslist handgun sale turned into a theft in an east side parking lot Monday morning, Madison police said.
A Stoughton woman trying to sell her handgun arranged to meet a man in the parking lot of the Walmart at 4198 Nakoosa Trail, according to a release.
The man asked to look at the gun when the two met around 10:30 a.m. But instead of paying for the weapon, police said, he jumped into his car with it and drove away.
The woman told police she was nearly hit by his vehicle as he sped out of the parking lot.
The man is described as black, in his mid-30s, 6 feet tall and weighing 165 pounds, with a thin build and short hair.
