Woman dies week after traffic crash

Deputies: Vehicle ran stop sign

DODGEVILLE, Wis. — A rural Dodgeville woman died a week after being injured in a traffic crash, according to the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Alice M. Terrill, 78, was a passenger in a car driven by her husband that was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop at a stop sign on Aug. 29.

Investigators said Lowell L. Terrill, 81, was traveling south on County Road Z when a vehicle driven by Andrew D. Polkinghorn, 31, of Lancaster, ran the stop sign at County Road Z and Section Line Road.

Polkinghorn’s passengers, Tyra R. Polkinghorn, 5, and Natcha Polkinghorn, 40, and the Terrills, were taken to Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville for treatment. Alice Terrill was flown to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison where she died Thursday, according to deputies.

Seat belts or child restraints were in use by everyone involved in the crash.

The Dodgeville Fire Department and EMS assisted at the scene.
