Woman dies after Town of Albion rollover crash
Authorities say crash remains under investigation
TOWN OF ALBION, Wis. — A 45-year-old woman died after a single-vehicle rollover crash on Highway 51 and Highway W in the Town of Albion early Wednesday morning.
Dane County sheriff’s deputies, Wisconsin State Patrol and Stoughton firefighters and EMS responded to a call about the crash at about 7:30 a.m.
The woman was driving a 2003 Mitsbuishi Montero Sport eastbound on Highway 51 when she apparently drifted onto the eastbound shoulder. She attempted to return the car to the road, but overcorrected into the westbound portion of the roadway. As she turned back, the vehicle began to roll over and she was ejected from the car.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. She wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to Dane County authorities.
The victim’s name hasn’t been released pending notification of family members.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
