Wisconsin Ukrainians step up to help refugees fleeing war

FITCHBURG, Wis. — Local groups continue to step up and do their part to help Ukrainians fleeing war in their country.

Wisconsin Ukrainians, founded in the wake of Russia’s invasion of the country, is filling a storage unit in Fitchburg with donations. Items range from medical supplies to defense equipment.

“It’s been great,” organizer Olya Daubs said. “Some people are stopping by and saying ‘I don’t have a lot,’ but if other people stop by with a little bag of stuff, we have a lot.”

Once they finish collecting items, Daubs and her group will drive the supplies to Chicago, then fly them to Poland where volunteers will distribute all of them.
