Wisconsin spring powwow celebrates Native American culture

MADISON, Wis. — Madison celebrated Wisconsin’s rich Native American culture this weekend with an annual spring powwow.
Wisconsin is home to 11 Native American tribes, and dozens of other tribal nations from across the country traveled to Madison to share their traditions.
“When you dance out there, that shows who you are – your spirit and how it wants to be,” said Garrick Cleveland Sr., an instructor for the Ho-Chunk Station singers and dancers. “That’s how we were raised.”
The powwow also featured artwork, jewelry, dreamcatchers and blankets.
