Wisconsin Men’s Hockey sweeps Michigan

Before this weekend, Michigan hadn’t come to Madison for a two-game series since 1981. They were reminded why Saturday when Wisconsin completed the weekend sweep with a 3-1 win. 

14,273 fans packed the Kohl Center Saturday. It was the Badgers’ largest home crowd in nearly two years. They saw another good performance from goal tender Joel Rumpel, who stopped 28 of 29 Michigan shots. Wisconsin outshot Michigan 37-29. 

On the offensive side, the Badgers got goals from Frankie Simonelli, Joseph LaBate, and Chase Drake. Michigan got their lone goal from Andrew Copp.

With the win, the Badgers are now 12-1-1 at home this season. They’re off next weekend.

They’ll host Ohio State Jan. 24/25.
