Wisconsin bests USC to take third place at Battle 4 Atlantis

NASSAU, Bahamas — Wisconsin got back to winning ways Friday, beating So. California 64-59 to earn third place at the Battle 4 Atlantis.
After coming up just short against Kansas on Thursday, the Badgers rode a solid three-point shooting performance to the season’s fifth win. Wisconsin went 10 for 24 from beyond the arc and drained 25 of their 56 field goal attempts.
The Badgers also forced 6 steals and only turned the ball over 8 times. The Trojans, on the other hand, committed 14 total turnovers.
Wisconsin also played an overall clean game, committing just 7 fouls to USC’s 14. The Badgers’ one blemish on the day was that they were outrebounded by the Trojans 36 to 32.
Chucky Hepburn was the leading scorer for the Badgers with 17 points. Tyler Wahl added 14 points and 9 rebounds, coming just short of a second double-double in two days.
Freshman Connor Essegian came off the bench and posted 12 points, his third straight game with 10-plus points, as he continues to make his case for a starting role.
The win brings Wisconsin’s record to 5-1 and sets up an intriguing matchup on Tuesday when the Badgers return to the Kohl Center to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT.
