WISC named ‘Station of the Year,’ wins 25 other WBA awards

WISC-TV, News 3 and Channel 3000 were named Social and Digital Media Operation of the Year, News Operation of the Year and Station of the Year, and was honored with 23 other Wisconsin Broadcasters Association awards at the organization’s annual awards gala Saturday.
The following awards were won:
Best spot news, “The search for Kayden Powell,” first place
Best evening newscast, “Baby Kayden found,” first place
Best evening newscast, “UW Coach Andersen quits,” second place
Best news writing, “Massey family revisited,” first place
Best news writing, “Coming home,” third place
Best hard news/investigative, “911 Dane Com system,” first place
Best series or documentary, “Reality Check: The fact and fiction in political ads,” second place
Best feature, “Wisconsin native receives Congressional Medal of Honor 151 years later,” first place
Best sportscast, “Jay Wilson compilation,” first place
Best specialty programming, “UW Badger Basketball – Final Four special,” second place
Best editorial/commentary, “Repealing Common Core a political stunt,” first place
Best editorial/commentary, “Stop trying to limit voting,” second place
Best promotional announcement, “Experience Matters,” first place
Best public service announcement, “Zoo Chamber Concert,” second place
Best public service announcement, “Time for Kids – Taking Time,” third place
Best commercial, “iFind Price Tracker,” third place
Best topical promotion, “Cold Case Baby Valentine,” second place
Best topical promotion, “Investigates heroin,” third place
Best website focused on journalism, Channel3000.com, third place
Best use of user-generated content, Time For Kids: The Buddy Project, second place Best niche website, Community sites, second place
Best innovation, Live Internet video, first place
Best special web project, Election night map, third place
The station competed with medium-market stations from across the state for the television awards honoring work done in 2014. All Wisconsin television and radio stations competed in the social and digital media awards.
Award submissions were judged by broadcast professionals in WBA partner states.
