Winifred H. “Winnie” Strand

Winifred H. “Winnie” (Peterson) Strand, age 93, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

She was born in Milwaukee, on May 30, 1924, the daughter of Harry and Isabel (Howard) Peterson. Winnie graduated from Madison West High School with the class of 1942.

In 1948, she married George W. Strand and together they had three children. She worked for the State of Wisconsin, in the Dept. of Agriculture and Revenue.

Winnie loved a good game of Euchre and Cribbage.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Leo) Cross; son, Dennis (Starr) Strand; three grandchildren, Leo Cross Jr., Lawrence (Julie) Cross and Rebecca Colwilll-Bezzi; and three great-grandchildren, Thomas, Adam and Colin. Winnie was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, George; brother, Robert Peterson; son, Gregory; and grandson, Jarrod.

A service will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 401 Femrite Dr., Monona on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at 1 p.m.
