Wind, hail, heavy rain possible Tuesday night

Storms forecast to hit southern Wisconsin Tuesday night could include damaging winds, large hail and locally heavy rainfall.

News 3 meteorologist Haddie McLean said scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Tuesday morning, mainly west of Madison, but another round of showers and thunderstorms will develop later Tuesday night as a cold front moves through the state.

There is a slight risk for severe weather Tuesday and Tuesday night in western Wisconsin, west of a line from Ashland to Eau Claire to Dodgeville, with a marginal risk for severe storms for the rest of the state.

A very warm and humid air mass will move into Wisconsin Tuesday. High temperatures will climb to the middle and upper 80s with heat index values in the 90s late Tuesday afternoon. Temperatures will be a little cooler and it will be less humid behind the cold front Wednesday.
