OREGON – William Francis “Bill” Newton, age 76, of Oregon, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born on July 24, 1945, in Madison, the son of Curtis and Evelyn (Denton) Newton.

Bill graduated from Oregon High School in 1964. He married Betty Heindel on May 6, 1967, in Madison. Bill worked as a police officer for the Madison Police Department and also owned his own business, B&R Septic for over 15 years. He was a member of Zor Shrine Madison, Masonic Lodge No. 151 and Scottish Rites.

Bill enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, deer hunting and playing softball. He also liked watching the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers sports games. Bill loved spending time with his grandchildren and going to their sporting events and looked forward to all of the family gatherings where he got to spend quality time with his family.

Bill is survived by his son, David (Kara) Newton; daughter, Lynne (David) Johnson; two granddaughters, Erikajo (Jim) Golden and Erin Newton; grandson, Nathan Newton; great-grandson, Oliver Golden; brother-in-law, Robert Jones; and sister-in-law, Diane Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Evelyn; first wife, Betty Jo Newton; second wife, Debi Dorman; sisters, Mava (Donald) Williams and Della Jones; and brothers, Merton (Maryln) Newton and Alton Newton.

A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.

Memorials may be gifted in Bill’s name to Zor Shrine Madison.
