William C. “Bill” Murphy

DeForest-William C. “Bill” Murphy, age 87, died on Saturday, July 29, 2017 in Waunakee, WI.

Bill was born on November 27, 1929, in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of Floyd and Daisy (Cravens) Murphy. He graduated from Purdue University in Indianapolis in 1951. Bill was married to Julia Murphy in 1954. Bill began work for American Breeders Service in Indianapolis and was transferred to Madison in 1957. He was very social and well known in the community and a long-time member of the Lions. He will always be remembered as a most friendly and congenial man.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Susan of Madison; and his grandson, Shawn of Springfield, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia of DeForest; and both of his parents, Floyd and Daisy of DeForest and Indiana.

He will be affectionately remembered by his good friends Katie, Dorothy, Marilyn and Kim.

A Visitation will be held from 4pm to 7pm on Friday, August 11, 2017 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest. A Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 220 S Main St, DeForest, with Rev. Sue Beadle presiding. A second visitation will be held at the church from 10am until the time of service. A reception will follow the service at the church.
