West Doty Street to be closed 5 days during crane removal

A portion of West Doty Street will be closed to traffic this week, according to a release.

Construction crews will close West Doty Street Wednesday from South Hamilton Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to dismantle two tower cranes at the Anchor Properties Development project, officials said.

The closure is expected to continue through Sunday.

Outer loop traffic will be detoured to South Carroll Street and to West Main Street on the Capitol Square, according to the release.

Pedestrian and bicycle access will be maintained on the south side sidewalk of West Doty Street, officials said. Access to area businesses, parking areas and residences will also be maintained.

The city said the project is weather-dependent, and tower crane dismantle work can’t take place with wind gusts greater than 15 mph.
