‘We Support Madison Police’ yard signs found in stolen car, police say

Signs supporting the Madison Police Department that were stolen from various lawns across the west side were recovered Tuesday night, officials said.

A stolen silver 2004 Audi was recovered by officers Tuesday night, according to a release. The car had 15 “We Support Madison Police” signs in it.

Officers have recovered several stolen vehicles in the Loreen Drive and Hammersley Road area over the past week, according to the release. No arrests have been made regarding the stolen Audi or the signs that were inside.

The owner of the vehicle said the signs did not belong to him, police said. The owner also said the Audi sustained thousands of dollars’ worth of damage after being taken from the 1800 block of Red Tail Drive.

Police said anyone whose sign was taken can claim it at the West Police District during business hours.
