Waunakee boys rout Baraboo 62-34
Tuesday in Waunakee, Waunakee boys basketball defeated Baraboo 62-34 in the first round of the high school basketball playoffs.
The Warriors started out fast. Riley Freeman gathered an offensive rebound in the first quarter, scored underneath, and gave the home team a 7-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Alex Helt drilled a three with time expiring to help Waunakee to a 19-point halftime lead.
Helt and company continued to dominate in the third quarter, outscoring the Thunderbirds 22-10 to take a 31-point lead into the fourth quarter.
From there, the Warriors cruised to a 62-34 win.
Helt scored a game-high 22 points for Waunakee.
