Warhawks shutout by Pointers

Saturday morning at James B. Miller Stadium, UW-Stevens Point got the best of the Warhawks. The Pointers used a four-run sixth inning and solid pitching to beat Whitewater 5-0, with the Warhawks suffering their first shutout in more than a year.
In the afternoon, Whitewater bounced back. Mike Mierow drove in two-runs and Mike Nompleggi gave up just one-run through seven innings as UWW beat UW-Oshkosh 4-1.
Later, the Warhawks played UWSP again. This time, the outcome was different. Whitewater pounded the Pointers to the tune of 10 runs. Six different guys drove in at least one-run as Whitewater went on to win 10-5.
Sunday in Whitewater, the Pointers and Warhawks will battle again in a winner-take-all WIAC Tournament match up.
The first pitch goes out at 12 p.m.
