Walworth County Sheriff’s Deputies Respond To 2-Car Crash
A two-vehicle crash on Tuesday morning in the Town of Sharon required Lifeline Helicopters to take one of the drivers to a Rockford area hospital, according to the Walworth County Sheriff’s Department.
Officials said the crash occurred at about 8:30 a.m. on Highway 14 south of Highway K. Deputies said they found a man, later identified as Hilarion G. Huerta, 39, of Darien, who had been ejected from the driver’s seat of a 1997 BMW.
Huerta was not wearing his seat belt, officials said. He was taken via helicopter to the hospital where his condition is not being released.
A preliminary investigation showed that Huerta was the sole occupant of the BMW, and was traveling southbound on Highway 14 when he lost control of his vehicle as it entered a patch of snow-covered road. He then entered the northbound lane where his vehicle collided with a 2009 Chevy Silverado pulling a tandem-axle enclosed trailer. The truck was being operated by Randall P. Kopp, 52, of Eau Claire.
Darien, Sharon, and Delavan Rescue Squads responded to the crash scene. Also assisting at the scene were village of Darien and Walworth Police Departments.
The Sheriff?s Crash Investigation Unit was summoned to the scene and is conducting the investigation. The incident is open and ongoing at this time, officials said.
