Walter L. “Snuffie” Schwartz

We are honored in celebrating the life of Walter L. “Snuffie” Schwartz who joined the Lord on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the age of 84.

Snuffie accomplished his dream of owning his own farm for over thirty years and also worked for the Sauk County Highway Department for thirteen years. He took pride in his interest in politics and expressed his opinion freely. He always had a joke to tell and always with a smile.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kathryn “Katie”; his children, Christine E. Sprecher, Jeff (Sharon) Schwartz, Steve (Laurie) Schwartz; Ray Henning, step-father of his grandchildren; sixteen grandchildren; 14 1/2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Frank (Mary) and Arthur; a sister, Lucille (Daniel); sisters-in-law, Lavina and Scholastica; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Agnes; a daughter, Nancy; a grandson, Steven Joseph; a great-grandson; brothers, Clarence, Edwin and Melvin; sisters, Leona and Delores; sisters-in-law, Jane and Vivian; and brothers-in-law, Ray and Elmer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 26 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Sauk City. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to Mass on Saturday at Hooverson Funeral Home.
