Wallet snatched from 70-year-old woman, police say

Madison police are seeking help trying to identify two people who took a wallet from the purse of a 70-year-old woman while she was at a grocery store.

Police said the woman from Dane was shopping last week at Pick n’ Save on Junction Road when the wallet was taken from her purse that was sitting in her grocery cart. Her stolen credit cards were used to make purchases at West Towne Mall, including $5,000 worth of merchandise at the Apple Store and hundreds of dollars’ worth of items at Victoria’s Secret.

Detectives said there have been a number of similar theft cases reported at other Junction Road businesses, and at more retail locations around the city.

Anyone with information on the people seen in the surveillance photos is asked to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608266-6014.
