Walker, Vukmir hoping for ‘Trump bump’ as the president prepares to campaign in Wisconsin
Trump to hold rally in Mosinee Wednesday

MOSINEE, Wisconsin — President Donald Trump will touch down in Wisconsin Wednesday afternoon, hoping the so-called “Trump bump” will help state Republicans less than two weeks from the midterm elections. That bump refers to the surge in support the president has brought to candidates in other close, contested races nationwide.
Trump will visit Mosinee, a part of Central Wisconsin that has been called “Trump country.” The president won that region by 18 points in 2016. 9 in 10 Republicans there approve of the job he’s doing.
With Gov. Scott Walker locked in a tight race with Democrat Tony Evers, the governor’s team is hoping Trump will help him appeal to the state’s rural voters.
Trump will also campaign for U.S. Senate candidate Leah Vukmir, who is polling behind current Sen. Tammy Baldwin by double digits.
Wednesday’s rally will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Wisconsin Airport.
On Friday, the state’s Democrats will be hoping for a similar presidential bump, when former President Barack Obama campaigns for Baldwin and Evers in Milwaukee.
