Walker touts business growth to state chamber

Gov. Scott Walker said Washington can learn from steps taken in Wisconsin to help improve the state’s economy.

Walker touted his record as governor in a campaign-like speech Wednesday before the state chamber of commerce. Walker faces re-election next year and is pondering a run for president in 2016.

Walker reiterated his 2010 campaign promise to create 250,000 private sector jobs by 2015. He noted that another promise he made, to have 10,000 new businesses start in Wisconsin, has already been met.

Walker said he’s still committed to his 250,000 jobs promise. Through his first two years in office, he is only about a quarter of the way toward meeting that.

He said the more businesses grow, the easier it will be to meet that jobs promise.
