W. Raymond Lawton

W. Raymond Lawton, 94, of Richland Center passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Richland Hospital. He was born September 29, 1917 in the home he lived in until the time of his death. Raymond was the son of Wallace A. and Pearl (Blake) Lawton.
Raymond served his country in the Army for several years. On May 18, 1946 Raymond married Ruth Marquardt. He held many jobs but was best known as City Clerk of Richland Center, retiring in 1988 after serving for 28 years. Raymond was a member of the American Legion Post 13 and the local 40et8. He was also a charter member of Neighborhood Housing Services of Richland County, a member of Richland County Historical Society and a longtime member of St. Luke Lutheran Church.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth (Marquardt) Lawton, five children, Sandra Lawton of Richland Center, Dale (Jean) Lawton of Black Earth, Dennis (Becki) Lawton of Cedarburg, Kent Lawton of Richland Center, Kevin (Mary) Lawton of Stevens Point, 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, and five brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 12:00 PM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Richland Center Cemetery where military graveside rites will be provided by the Local Military Memorial Honors Unit. Friends may call at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Thursday, June 7, 2012 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be given to the Richland Hospital Foundation, Home Health United or a charity of your choice.
