Vos unenthused about high school drug testing

Assembly Speaker Robin Vos is unenthusiastic about a proposal to require randomized drug testing for all Wisconsin high school students participating in sports and other extracurricular activities.

Vos told The Associated Press in an interview Tuesday that “I’m not so sure I want to have a one-size fits all solution where we dictate from Madison how every single school district should do drug testing.”

The drug testing idea came from a task force of legislators and others looking at ways to combat heroin abuse.

Vos says he’s open to requiring every school district to have a policy addressing opiate abuse, but he doesn’t see a groundswell of support for mandating drug testing.
