Vos says state Assembly will be more conservative

Republicans hold 60-39 majority in Assembly, expected to hold that following the Nov. 4 election

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin state Assembly Speaker Robin Vos said the Assembly will be more conservative as a result of Tuesday’s primary election.

Vos said Wednesday that Republican candidates who emerged from the primary believe the state is headed in the right direction and supported Act 10, the law that effectively ended collective bargaining for most public workers.

Republicans currently hold a 60-39 majority in the Assembly and were expected to hold that following the Nov. 4 general election.

Republicans also currently control the Senate, but the margin is much tighter at 17-14 with one vacancy in a GOP district.

Vos easily won his primary on Tuesday. He faces Democrat Andy Mitchell in the general election.
