Violet D. “Dolly” Spencer

MADISON – Violet D. “Dolly” Spencer, age 90, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2012, at her residence. She was born on April 8, 1922, in Dane County, the daughter of Leonard and Viola (Peterson) Uphoff.

Violet attended East High School. She married William G. Spencer in Madison. Violet worked at Kroger’s, the Dane County Register of Deeds, Robert Hall, Mays, along with other fine clothing stores. She enjoyed occasional trips to the casino, gardening, flowers, watching golf and game shows. Violet also enjoyed spending time with friends and family, but especially being with her beloved dog, “Buddy” and her grand-children and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Bonnie (Robbin) Spencer of Madison, William (Kathy) Spencer Jr. of Madison, Gilbert Spencer of Madison and John (Barb) Spencer of Madison; seven grandchildren, Andrea (Juan) Veium, William Spencer III, Robert (Dawn) Veium, Angela (Brian) Spencer, Jared Spencer, Natasha (Charles) Younger and Anthony (Tiffani) Younger; great-grandchildren; Michael, David, Gavin, Keegan, Alexis, Azaria, Brielle, Brayden, Ameillia; and numerous relatives and friends. Violet was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1987; son, James in infancy; a sister, Roberta (Roger) Ott; a brother, Roger (Orma) Uphoff; one granddaughter, Erica and one great-granddaughter Nicole.

Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 1, 2012, with the Rev. Jerry Amstutz presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
