Victim’s brother wishes killer was jailed longer

The brother of one of Walter Ellis’ seven murder victims says the convicted Wisconsin serial killer should have served more time before dying.

According to the South Dakota Department of Corrections, the 53-year-old Ellis died at a Sioux Falls hospital Sunday of apparent natural causes.

Ellis had been held in a South Dakota state prison under an interstate compact agreement.

Terry Williams, of Madison, is the brother of victim Joyce Mims, who was killed in June 1997. He says he hated to hear Ellis died because he deserved to be in prison longer.

Ellis was accused of killing seven women between 1986 and 2007.

He pleaded no contest in 2011 in Milwaukee County to charges of first-degree intentional homicide and first-degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison.
