Verona Area High School girls basketball wins state championship

The Verona Area Wildcats won their first state title in girls basketball Saturday.

The team beat Mukwonago, 52-46. Alex Luehring led the Wildcats with 18 points and seven rebounds.

Grace Mueller also made an impact, scoring 12 points and grabbing seven rebounds.

Verona High School is hosting a celebration for the team at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Main Gym.

The Wildcats finish the season with a 25-3 record.
