Vernon Conkle

Vernon L. Conkle, 66, ofJefferson, died on Monday, May 7, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Tallahassee, Fla., the son of Irvin and Cleo (Cook)Conkle. Vernon married Betty Maves in Cambridge. She preceded him in death in1985. He served in the United States Marine Corps for over 14 years, leaving the Marines in 1984 as a staff sergeant.

He is survived by his son, Victor Conkle of Jefferson;

two brothers,Garry Conkle and Byron (Elaine) Conkle, both of Jefferson;

one sister,Sharry (Larry) Conkle Green of Jefferson;

and nieces and nephews.

He also was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, at the PrattFuneral Home in Richland Center. Burial with military honors will followin the Richland Center Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pratt Funeral Home in Richland Center on Saturdayfrom 1 p.m. until the time of services. A visitation also will be held on Friday, May 11, at the Olsen FuneralHome in Jefferson from 5 to 7 p.m.
