Verda A. McDermott

Verda (Schweiss) McDermott, age 94, passed away peacefully at Greenway Manor on April 16, 2012.

Verda was born to Sylvester and Mabel (Walsh) Schweiss in the Town of Franklin (Plain, WI) on April 24, 1917. She graduated from St. Luke’s High School and Edgewood College. On January 20, 1943 she married Leo F. McDermott at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain, WI.

Verda is survived by her daughter, Ann (Jerry) Gleisner of Verona; brother, Norman Schweiss of Sun Prairie, sister-in-law, Caroline Schweiss of Plain; brother-in-law, Herman Liegel of Madison and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo on March 27, 2002; two sons, Patrick L. McDermott and John S. McDermott; brother, Russell Schweiss; sister, Arlene Liegel and two sisters-in-law, Irene Schweiss and Darlene Schweiss.

Per Verda’s wishes there will be no funeral service. A private burial will be held at St. John’s Cemetery in Spring Green, WI.
