Vera Sergeyevna Lashina

Vera Sergeyevna Lashina, 75, passed away peacefully at home in Madison, WI at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday April 5. Vera was born in Moscow, Russia April 1, 1937 to the late Sergey Shalyapin and Maria Lagunkina.

Vera is survived by Yury Lashin, her loving husband of 52 years; her daughter, Svetlana Gerdes; her son-in-law Michael Gerdes; and her two grand-daughters, Sophia Gerdes (16) and Katherine Gerdes (14). Vera was especially proud to have hosted her granddaughters for annual summer visits to Moscow, Russia during which she passed along her language and culture.

Vera was a distinguished elementary school teacher at Moscow public school number 720 for almost forty years. She is remembered fondly in Moscow by many loving friends and colleagues, and former students.

A funeral service will be held at St. Ignatius Orthodox Church, 2124 Schafer Drive, Madison at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 with the V. Reverend Patrick Kinder presiding. The family will greet friends after 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery followed by a luncheon at Cress Funeral Home Community Room.
