Bicyclist killed in crash on John Nolen Dr., police investigating

MADISON, Wis. — A 71-year-old bicyclist died Thursday after he was hit by someone driving a vehicle on John Nolen Drive during the morning commute.

The man suffered serious injuries from the collision and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The Dane County Medical Examiner will release his identity at a later date.

Police said the driver of the vehicle wasn’t injured in the crash and is cooperating with law enforcement’s investigation.

The crash happened just before 7 a.m. near the intersection of John Nolen and North Shore drives.

Emergency crews are still on the scene more than an hour after the crash, and traffic headed toward downtown Madison on John Nolen experienced severe delays. Madison Police officials said anyone driving into downtown Madison should take a different route, and did not have an estimate on how long the delays could last.
