UWPD to increase downtown patrols in wake of robberies

MADISON, Wis. — The UW-Madison Police Department will increase downtown patrols this weekend following two armed robberies near campus.

The incidents remain under investigation by Madison police. Officials said Saturday that no suspects were in custody.

It is not clear if the two incidents are connected. One occurred around 5:35 p.m. in the area of South Mills and Regent streets at a McDonald’s. The second occurred around 8:50 p.m. at a Walgreens on East Campus Mall.

No injuries were reported in either incident.
