Tyler Wahl ruled out for Badgers’ game against Illinois

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Tyler Wahl, Wisconsin’s leading scorer, will not feature in Saturday’s game against Illinois.
A team spokesperson said Wahl traveled with the team to Illinois, but will not play. Wahl is still recovering from a lower body injury suffered on Tuesday.

The senior from Lakeville, Minn. left the game against Minnesota after less than 10 minutes. The Badgers were able to cover for his absence, and won 63-60.
The win was thanks, in large part, to strong efforts from Wisconsin’s other top scorers. Steven Crowl posted 17 points, Chucky Hepburn recorded 16 and Connor Essegian came off the bench to add 11. Hepburn, Crowl and Essegian rank No. 2, 3 and 4 on the team in scoring respectively.
Saturday will mark the first time this season Wahl has missed a game, and the first time he hasn’t started. He is averaging 13.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game through 13 games played.
The Badgers are looking to extend their win streak to seven games on Saturday when they visit Illinois. Wisconsin has not lost since Nov. 29. Tipoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
