Two injured in southern Grant County crash

HAZEL GREEN TOWNSHIP, Wis. — Two people were taken to hospitals after a crash on Highways 80 and 11 in southern Grant County on Wednesday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Department said.
In a news release, officials said deputies responded to a crash near Gulers Corner around 4 p.m. on a report of a two-vehicle crash with injuries.
An investigation found that a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban being driven by 80-year-Donald Peebles, of East Dubuque, Illinois, had failed to yield while making a left turn into Gulers Bar and Grill. Peebles’ vehicle hit a 2009 Chevrolet HHR being driven by 46-year-old Robert Kruser, of Hazel Green.
Peebles was treated at the scene and taken to Finely Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa, the release said. Kruser was extricated from his vehicle and taken to Mercy Hospital in Dubuque.
Both men were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, and both vehicles received heavy damage, the release said.
Peebles was cited for failure to yield while making a left hand turn causing great bodily harm.
