Two dead, three hospitalized after car crashes into tree

FAIRFIELD, Wis. – Two people are dead and three others were hospitalized after a car crashed into a tree Friday morning.
Sauk County officials say the car was traveling north on County Road A near Side Road in Fairfield just after 10:38 a.m.
An investigation showed that the driver lost control, spinning into a ditch before hitting the tree.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and four passengers had to be extracted from the car.
One of the passengers was pronounced dead at the scene after succumbing to injuries.
Another passenger was taken to University Hospital via med-flight with life-threatening injuries.
Two other passengers were taken to the hospital via ambulance.
The crash remains under investigation.
The names of those involved have not yet been released.
