Two cars, occupied restaurant damaged during shooting on Madison’s east side

MADISON, Wis. — Madison police recovered more than 30 casings after shots were fired near the Perkins restaurant on the city’s east side.
Officers were called to the 4800 block of Hayes Road and East Washington Avenue around 2 a.m. on Sunday, according to a release by the Madison Police Department.
Madison police said 30 people were inside the restaurant when the shooting took place. Two windows at the restaurant were damaged, according to Police Department spokesman,Joel Despain. Casings were found in the restaurant’s parking lot and in the lot of a nearby hotel, Despain said.
Police said at least two cars were also hit during the shooting, including one belonging to an Uber driver who was in the middle of a ride when the shooting happened.
Local hospitals were put on alert, but it does not appear there were any victims, according to police.
