A tense standoff involving a man and two children in the Town of Beloit ended peacefully Sunday night, according to the Rock County Sheriff’s Department.

Officers received a dropped 911 call from a home in the 2200 block of E. West Hart Road in the town of Beloit just before 2 p.m. Sunday.

When deputies arrived, they learned Kevin Thiele, 29, had a fight with one of his parents, had shown them a weapon, and had two children inside the house with him.

Sheriff’s officials said other resources, including the Rock County SWAT team, were called in since Thiele wasn’t communicating with officers.

It took hostage negotiators three hours to convince Thiele to give up the children and surrender to police, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s officials said Thiele now faces numerous charges, including disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment.
