Tomah teen in critical condition after jumping from moving van

A Tomah teenager remains in critical condition after jumping from a moving vehicle on Sunday afternoon.

Monroe County Sheriff Scott Perkins said a 16-year-old female passenger in the back seat of a van opened the door and jumped from the vehicle on County Highway A in the Town of Wilton at about 11:30 a.m. on April 19.

Perkins said the driver of the vehicle, Katherine L. Wolf, 48, of Tomah, tried to help Rebecca J. Wolf until first responders arrived. Sheriff Perkins said Rebecca Wolf was taken via Med Flight to Gundersen Health System. She was still listed in critical condition as of Monday afternoon.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol are still investigating the incident.

The Wilton Fire Department, Wilton EMS, Tomah Ambulance Service and Med-link Air also assisted the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
