Thieves Steal Copper Piping From Madison Woman’s Home
Madison police said that thieves stole copper pipe from a home on Madison’s south side last week.
Police said the 27-year-old homeowner reported the crime Friday morning after finding someone had forced open the front door to her home on Pine Street.
The 30 feet of copper pipe that was stolen had been connected to the water heater and to the water softener, police said.
Police said the theft of copper is not unusual, but typically construction sites and other non-residential areas are hit.
Police said criminals who steal metal are mostly looking to sell it as scrap for quick cash.
