Theresa M. Lynch

Theresa M. Lynch, age 89, a Janesville resident for most of her life, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Ingleside Manor in Mount Horeb, with her loving daughter Mary at her side.

She was born Theresa Mary Wiskia on Oct. 16, 1927 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and lived with her grandparents, John and Anna Wiskia, in La Prairie Township. She attended Woodman and St. Mary’s grade schools and graduated from Janesville High School in 1945, after which she went to work in the office of the Parker Pen Co. She married Norbert T. Lynch of Evansville, Wisconsin on Oct. 19, 1946 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Nubbs passed away on January 14, 2004.

Theresa worked tirelessly to support her children through their formative years and her husband in his career as a mason contractor, first as a fulltime homemaker, then later as a receptionist at the Janesville Medical Center/Mercy East, where she worked for 20 years. She was a fantastic cook and baker and encouraged her young kids to develop their own culinary skills, even the boys. She was an excellent seamstress, creating many stylish outfits for herself and her kids, and she made beautiful needlepoint art for her grandchildren.

Theresa and Nubbs loved to travel and took their children on many cross-country trips when they were growing up. In the years leading up to and after their retirement, they continued to explore the United States as well as travel internationally, visiting Italy, Hong Kong, Thailand, Ireland, Poland, Germany, Hungary, Austria, the Czech Republic and the Panama Canal.

Theresa is survived by her 6 children: Kathleen Lynch (Robert Dauber) of California, Daniel Lynch of Florida, Patricia (Benjamin) Hess of Montana, Joseph (Alice) Lynch of California, Jerome (Joan) Lynch of Madison and Mary Lynch of Mount Horeb; 10 grandchildren: Angela Sharer, Jennifer (Scott) Smith, Nicholas Dragomani, Kirsten (Lutrell) Smith, Eric (Kirsten) Lynch, Patrick Lynch, Daniel Lynch, Daniel (Connie) Welcome, Claire Lynch and Mara Lynch; 4 great granddaughters: Morgan, Athena, Vivienne and Nina; and many other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Veronica Phelan Helmers, her three brothers, John Phelan, James Phelan and Philip Phelan, and her sweet cat Stanley, her companion of fifteen years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017, at NATIVITY OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, Janesville with Monsignor Raymond Kertz presiding. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
