The Avett Brothers to play Breese Stevens Field’s first major concert

The Avett Brothers will headline the first major concert ever at Madison’s Breese Stevens Field on Oct. 2.

“We feel very fortunate to have such an amazing venue in the heart of the city and think this show will be the perfect way to introduce Breese Stevens to Madison concertgoers,” said Charlie Goldstone, the president of Frank Productions, which is putting on the event along with True Endeavors, 105.5 Triple M and Majestic Live.

The Avett Brothers and special guest Brett Dennen will start the show at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The Avett Brothers, from North Carolina, combine bluegrass, country, rock and a variety of other genres. They released I and Love and You in 2009, The Carpenter in 2012 and Magpie and the Dandelion in 2013. Folk musician Brett Dennen released his fifth record Smoke & Mirrors in 2013.

Tickets go on sale June 5 at 10 a.m. and will be available online at Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 800-745-3000, at the Alliant Energy Center Box Office and the Majestic Theatre Box Office. General admission tickets can be purchased for $45, or $65 for a Gold Circle upgrade.
