Thanksgiving Baskets Distributed To Families In Need

Thanksgiving is already under way for many families at the Goodman Community Center on Madison’s East Side.

Goodman Community Center staff and volunteers on Monday handed out baskets with all the necessary items for a Thanksgiving feast to some 900 area families.

Organizers said it’s the culmination of months of work, food drives and the generosity of donors and volunteers from all walks of life.

“Today we have volunteers and families showing up to pick up their baskets,” said Kathy Utley, with the Goodman Community Center. “And it’s been extraordinary. These past two days have been absolutely incredible.”

Stevens Construction Corporation provided 100 dinners. Oscar Mayer/Kraft Foods donated all the Jell-O and stuffing for the 1,000 baskets.
