THANK YOU: Southern Wisconsin embraces Day of Kindness

MADISON, Wis. — Schools, businesses and many others took part in News 3’s Day of Kindness on Wednesday.

Here are some of the highlights from the day:

St. Mary’s President Frank Byrne spent the morning reading a couple of his favorite books to Leopold Elementary students.

News 3 This Morning anchor Deana Wright visited kids at the Madison Children’s Museum, along with St. Mary’s Happy Heart.

Volunteers at Henry Vilas Zoo were extra kind Wednesday, handing out coloring books and animal trading cards to families willing to brave the dreary weather.

Students at Badger Rock Middle School worked on a project, allowing people to “tear off” kindness.  They created flyers with tabs at the bottom, all with compliments and suggestions of how to be nice to someone.

Also at Badger Rock, the Foundation for Madison Public Schools donated hundreds of books to the eighth grade class.

News 3 anchors Eric Franke and Michelle Li delivered flowers to St. Mary’s Care Center in Madison. Chavez Elementary musicians also surprised people there with some live tunes.

Monona police, a long-time supporter of the Be A Buddy campaign, went to Winnequah School to hand out pencils and bracelets, reminding kids there not to stop talking about bullying.

Crash Helmet from Dean Clinic took donated helmets from both Dean and MC Sports to the Boys and Girls Club on Allied Drive. Ten lucky “buddies” received the helmets.
