Terrace chairs return Wednesday, marking start of 2021 terrace season

Access is limited to UW–Madison students, faculty and staff.

The Wisconsin Union’s Terrace season starts Wednesday as the chairs return to the Memorial Union Terrace.

At first the terrace will start with access limited to current University of Wisconsin–Madison staff, faculty and students, a release says. The active Badger Badge program requires that patrons have Badger Badges whose status is determined based on regular, on-campus COVID-19 test results or vaccination status.

“We can finally announce that it’s Terrace time again,” Deputy Director Susan Dibbell says. “Terrace season is a time we look forward to every year, but this year feels more important than ever, because the Terrace has always been a source of respite and happiness, both of which so many of us could use right now.”

The Brat Stand will open Thursday joining the rest of the year-round dining offerings at the Memorial Union.

Seating on the Terrace will be determined on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests are not allowed to move tables and chairs from their locations as team members placed them to aid in physical distancing. Masks are required. No reservations are required.

At this time, Wisconsin Union members and guests are not able to visit the Terrace, but the team is looking forward to allowing them to access the terrace in the future.
