Teen collapses during jail church service, hospitalized

A teen who collapsed during a jail church service Thursday night was hospitalized, officials said.
Dane County Sheriff’s deputies and jail medical personnel responded to the chapel in the City-Council Building for an unresponsive inmate at 6:30 p.m.
Officials said deputies and nursing staff checked the 19-year-old man and found he was not breathing. They retrieved an AED and oxygen, administered one shock and started CPR until his breathing was restored.
Officials said Madison Fire and EMS transported the inmate to Meriter Hospital, where he remained Friday morning. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
