Taylor leads Badgers to triple-overtime win
Sophomore rushes for 321 yards
West Lafayette, IN — Jonathan Taylor arguably played his best game in a Wisconsin uniform and led the Badgers to a 47-44 triple overtime win at Purdue.
Taylor rushed for 321 yards and 3 touchdowns on 33 carries. That’s the third highest single-game rushing total in school history. Ron Dayne rushed for 339 yards against Hawaii in 1996, and Melvin Gordon rushed for 408 against Nebraska in 2014.
The Badgers trailed 27-13 in the fourth quarter when quarterback Jack Coan hit Danny Davis for touchdown passes of five and 18 yards on consecutive possessions.
The two teams traded touchdowns in the first two overtimes, but the Badgers defense held the Boilermakers to a field goal at the beginning of the third OT.
Taylor took a handoff 17 yards for the game-ending touchdown. The Badgers have won 13 straight in the series.
Wisconsin improves to 7-4 overall, 5-3 in the Big Ten. Purdue falls to 5-6, 4-4.
