Sylvester “Syl” Helt
MIDDLETON – Sylvester “Syl” Helt, age 88, died on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison.
He was born in Ashton on Aug. 29, 1928, to William and Rose (Ripp) Helt. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and recently participated on a Badger Honor Flight. He worked for a number of years driving cement trucks for Lycon and Madison Redi-Mix until his retirement in 1993. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ashton.
Survivors include his sister, Dorothy (Gene) Voegli; two brothers, Bill (Virginia) and Tony (Joan) Helt, sisters-in-law, Doris, Viola, Marlene, and Diane Helt; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister and brothers, Rose (Claude) Schuster, Fred, John, Joe, Gilbert (Carol), Tom, Don and Godfrey (Rosella); brother-in-law, John Endres; and nephews, Dan, Travis, and Ken Helt.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7121 County Trunk K, Middleton/Ashton, Wis. Rev. Bud Hollfelder will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
