Suspected thief held by bar patrons

A man suspected of stealing from a car in a bar parking lot was caught by a man who saw someone going through his girlfriend’s car early Monday morning, according to a release from Madison police.
The boyfriend told police he arrived at Stan’s Club LaMark at 1525 N. Stoughton Road, where he was meeting his girlfriend, and saw someone in her car. But when he checked the car, he found it wasn’t his girlfriend. She was inside the bar.
Police said Terry L. Frye, 37, had shattered the driver’s side window with a screwdriver and had the woman’s money in his sweatshirt pocket.
A man inside the bar saw the two men struggling and went to assist the boyfriend. They held Frye on the ground until police arrived.
Frye was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and damage to property.
