Police in Menomonie have identified a suspect in the death of a University of Wisconsin-Stout student, according to a news release.

Police also said they didn’t find any evidence to suggest 24-year-old Hussain Alnahdi’s death was a hate crime.

Alnahdi, 24, from Saudi Arabia, was fatally assaulted Halloween weekend in downtown Menomonie.

During their investigation, which included interviews of out-of-state people, police developed a suspect, who is not a UW-Stout student or a resident of Dunn County, the release said.

The results of the investigation have been turned over to the Dunn County District Attorney’s Office, who will determine charges. The suspect’s name is being withheld pending the charging decision, the release said.
